A book review is an assessment or analysis of a book in great detail. The book review should not be confused with a summary as it requires a much more insightful approach. Anyone can write a summary, but a book review must be written by someone who has read the piece and has numerous ideas and questions that need to be addressed. A well-written book review covers the good and the bad within a piece, shows us how the two work together to achieve a purpose. Below are some of the key elements every book review should contain and the details of each.

Define Purpose. The purpose of some pieces is obvious, while others make take a little more thought. For the more difficult pieces the writer of the book review must define the audience, point-of-view and most importantly, did the author reach this intended purpose? The reviewer can also include personal reflections, experiences and thoughts of or relating to the piece to help themselves and us understand its meaning.

Study Format. This answers how does the author present the information to the reader and arrive at this purpose. Taking a close look at arguments, narration and the description of people, places, and other key elements can reveal a lot about the piece. The reviewer should be on a constant search for thoroughness, and potholes. Were there any unresolved issues?

The Author. This section can be as detailed as the writer likes—although it is encouraged when additional information about the author will help with the development and comprehension of the book review. The writer should look for possible connections between the author and the piece of work. Using a mind map to record all facts will make it easier to connect the dots, and decide what information is relevant and what can be disregarded.

Additional information. This is any additional information provided by the author that the reviewer would like to add or any information the reviewer chooses to add to ensure his or her view is understood. An example of additional information would be a reference to another book made by the author within in the text, or at the end of the book.

Genre. What genre is the book? Non-fiction or fiction? A biography? Poetry? This is very important because the points to be covered vary depending on the genre of the piece. For example, when reviewing a poem, the reviewer should pay attention to the rhyming scheme, imagery and overall voice of the literary work, while if covering a fictional piece the review would focus on topics referring to character, plot, setting, theme and style.

There is no specific format to follow when creating a book review, and the writer should feel free to let their comments and opinions regarding the piece to flow freely and without hesitance. While recording their ideas, the reviewer should also include the thoughts of the author. Using a mind map—such as the one attached to this article—is perfect for recording and organizing these thoughts. Feel free to print the mind map and use it as a handy reference.

Everyone of us has a novelist deep inside of us. Whether you are someone who reads every single book on the bestseller list, or reads at least two to three books in a year, or someone who gives books as Christmas gifts or favors such as wedding bookmarks, everyone of us has an inkling to reading in one way or another.

For someone who has a great story in mind and wants to share it with the world, writing a novel is a dream accomplishment. Not all published writers or novelists are experienced. For the writer of the worldwide bestseller, the Twilight trilogy, it was her first time to have written a novel. If she can do it, then you can do it too.

Writing a novel all starts with writing down a map of how the story will flow. Begin by identifying the major parts you want to be included in the story from the start to the end of the novel. You now have the outline of the story and you can work on the wordings of each part of each chapter later on. You can also go straight into writing the novel without the outline. Whichever works for you, as long as you get to start and finish writing, then it’s the right way to go.

You should also identify the plot or the major events, situations, realizations or twists in the story. The plot has a rationale behind it and also a beginning, a middle, and an end. The ending is not the only important thing but rather all three play a crucial part in the development.

You can now identify who your characters are, what they look like, and the backdrop against which the characters are set. You must have a protagonist, the character who goes towards and around the main plot of the story, and the antagonist who is the exact opposite of the main character. You should also create other supporting characters because they are important in the development of the story and solidifying the personalities and values of your two main characters. They may have their own side stories but they should be weaved towards the main plot. Make them realistic so the readers can relate to all characters.

And of course, the plot and characters should move around an environment that you have created for them. Describe all the major and minor details of the scene but make sure you don’t derail the readers from the main storyline. You should eventually go back to the characters and plot once the environment or backdrop has been established.

I've always wanted to be a writer. Always, for as long as I can remember. Back in grade school I wrote skits for my friends to act out.

I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Always, for as long as I can remember. Back in grade school I wrote skits for my friends to act out.

After childhood I went through a phase where I didn’t write much though. I was an English major in college, but I only took a couple of writing classes. Then I went to law school and really put writing on the back burner. But I realized after two years in law school – I really missed the writing.

I decided to do something about this. I signed up for some classes in creative writing, and I also joined an online writing workshop. It turns out that joining the workshop was the most important decision of my writing life.

The group worked this way: members would upload their writing to the online page. This way we could read each others’ work. Then we would meet twice a month in person in a local restaurant, and we would critique the work.

I started writing a novel and put pieces of it up for critique. Boy was this nervewracking! I sat through the critique and realized that my work wasn’t up to the quality I’d like.

This could have been very discouraging, but oddly it wasn’t. Instead, I found it very constructive, and I was newly encouraged. The group members were positive about the work, thought it showed promise, and gave me direction for how to develop as a writer. Then I wrote a short story for critique and the group loved it. In a short span of time, with their help, I had grown greatly as a writer.

I’m still a member of this group two years later. Actually, I like it so well, I’ve joined two more groups besides. It’s very fun to share interests with other people!

My writing is much better now than when I started out. Even better, I’ve met friends who share my interest in writing. That, to me, is icing on the cake.

Besides writing, this writer additionally frequently gives advice about Human Touch massage chair and Panasonic shiatsu massage chair.

There are times when your fingers, in perfect sync with your mind, tap away gracefully on the keyboard and you’ve got no problem in putting down your ideas on paper or in your word processor. At these times you feel you were born to write. It is an exhilarating feeling so you feel on top of the world!

Then again there are those instances when you stare blankly into empty space, perfectly mirroring the void in your mind. You sit there twiddling your thumbs and you just do not have an idea as to what to write or do.

Does the scenario sound familiar? If you write for a living, you need not worry! You are suffering from writer’s block! Most writers have been there and gone through this sort of phase.

Sometimes a nice long walk will assist you to organize your thoughts and offers you a brand new perspective on things! Alternatively you can go into the kitchen and cook up something that you like to eat! Go and spend time with your friends! The theory is always to relax and do something else you love! You will come back refreshed and feel far better!

If you are lucky enough to have written several bestsellers, then one option would be to go on a vacation. There is nothing stopping you from taking a few days off and driving right down to the beach or taking in some crisp and fresh mountain air. A holiday is a great idea when you need inspiration for your latest writing venture.

But a holiday may not work for two different reasons altogether! For starters, you might not have sufficient cash saved! Two, the issue might be deeper and a vacation would be just a diversion that may in all probability, not open up the mental block!

So, where lays the solution? Dig deeper and carry out some introspection and find what is causing the mental block! You have to endure the issues in the end and the sooner you do so, the better! If something or someone is bothering you then cope with that something or talk with that somebody and deal with the issue.

One more reason that a number of writers enter a lapse and are not able to write is because they wonder whether or not they are in the correct profession! Should you look at things that way then grab a great book and read. Notice the author’s style and flow of ideas from a writer’s perspective.

Writing is an excellent profession and you need to be convinced about this if you want to succeed! Fighting writer’s block caused by insufficient appreciation for the profession is the most difficult thing to do. But there are occasions when you may need to light up your bond with writing again!

Whether it’s a true story or a novel, most authors dream of having their book become a Hollywood movie. In fact, a high percentage of movies started out as books, comic books or graphic novels. According to Internet Movie Data Base, over 22,000 movies have been made from books. So far.

If this is your dream, read on. One way to increase your chances of having your book turned into a movie is to write the screenplay version of the book. Producers prefer reading scripts to reading books because they take less time to read. Scripts are usually 90 – 120 pages, with a lot of white space.

If you’re thinking about writing the screenplay version of your book, here are some things to keep in mind:

1. You must write it the proper length (see above). Scripts that are too long or too short are immediately thrown out.

2. You must learn proper screenplay format. There are books that will teach you this. If your script does not follow proper format, it will be tossed without any consideration.

3. You must get the Hollywood reader’s attention within 10 pages. This may mean adapting the beginning of your story, in some cases. If you don’t get their attention and interest quickly, they move on to the next script.

4. A screenplay can only contain what can be seen and heard on the screen — action and dialogue. Unlike a novel, you can’t tell us what the character is thinking. But you can reveal their emotions and thoughts through dialogue and action.

5. Every scene must move the story forward in some way.

6. Don’t “direct” the script. Don’t put in camera angles or suggest particular songs to play in the background. That is the director’s prerogative.

7. Consider eliminating any subplots and combining two or more characters into one, that is, create composite characters, if there are numerous characters in your book.

8. Keep the dialogue short. Novels have more freedom in that regard.

9. If you don’t already do so, watch lots of movies with the intent of noticing what works and what doesn’t. It will help you become a better screenwriter.

10. Realize that a book is not a movie and a movie is not a book. They have different needs and different rules. Keep this in mind and you will be more successful at adapting your book into a movie.

Danek S. Kaus is a produced screenwriter of an award-winning thriller that wil be released in 2011. He was recently hired by a production company to adapt a true story book into a screenplay.
#1 The most typical use of articles repurposing is to rewrite content articles for article marketing purposes.

Article rewriting, when handled strategically, can result in as many as five different variants of the identical article. Each one can be published on an independent article promotion site. And the original can be published on your website or blog. Make sure each version still keeps the keywords and phrases that you need to optimize for search engines.

#2 Rewrite lengthy articles or reports into blog posts. Long articles and reports can be segmented into smaller bite sized blog posts. Blog post tend to be a bit more personal – aimed towards branding your personality. This can be accomplished by including an anecdote and/or modifying the words slightly to produce the post original and fulfill its purpose.

#3 Put together blog post and articles and create a comprehensive and useful report. In making the report feel unique and important you’ll desire to then add fresh touches including transitions amongst articles so the article feels smooth. You will also need an introduction and a conclusion and you can fill any gaps with fresh information and content.

#4 Repurpose blog posts, articles and reports for autoresponders/enewsletters. Following up with your opt-in list is important to help keep them interested and motivate buying. This can be easily attained by means of taking key paragraphs and points out of articles and reports and ultizing them to create autoresponder messages. Autoresponders don’t need to be prolonged, 200-250 words are usually sufficient to offer a good amount of valuable information and link to your website.

#5 Ebooks. Reports and articles can be put together to offer a important information product. Just like creating reports in #3 you can produce e-books by collecting content and organizing it in a logical and efficient manner. Market it or give it away as a bonus, lead generator or viral product.

Whether you have written this article, outsourced it, bought Private Label Rights or a combination of all three, this makes great business logic to maximize your investment. And one can use PLR and a ghost writer to fill the gaps whenever you’re creating reports and ebooks. Furthermore, you can retain the services of a virtual assistant or a writer to repurpose content.

Article repurposing will be more than a way to fill the gaps when you’re on vacation or when you’re having difficulties to create original material. Repurposing your content can make good economical sense too. Along with every piece of content you produce or have created for you, do think ahead. Plan exactly how you are planning to maximize the content material and recycle it tactically.

This article on the 10 (no, 11… yes, 11) tips for newbies is not written from the catbird seat point of view of the article host or database manager. Rather it is by and from the perspective of an author who remembers the early misgivings. It is written especially for the beginning article writer. The Tennessee Mountain Man has written and submitted hundreds of articles for publication to thousands of article hosts and database managers and still finds Article Writing his nemesis.

1. Necessity vs Desire:

Articles and Blogs are necessary in today’s scheme of search engine indexing. Not what the newbie wants to hear. Just remember what the Bible says, “there has nothing over taken you that is not common to man”. That’s right! All of us hate article and Blog writing at times, and some of us dread the journey to pen and paper (or keyboard as the case may be) all the time. Many a webmaster would call them “a necessary evil” as they are not generally anyone’s best liked house keeping chores.

2. Just Start, It Gets Easier:

First it is sometimes difficult to get a subject or theme and to get the first couple of lines scribbled down. The Tennessee Mountain Man knows authors who literally get sick thinking about the process. Lighten up. Once an author has a starting point and gets passed the initial thoughts, article and Blog writing usually goes fairly smoothly.

The main thing is that you get started. Pick a subject you know something about and just start. You will be pleasantly surprised at just how easily ideasflow. Don’t assume everyone knows what you know. They don’t. Will Rogers once said, “all men are ignorant, just on different subjects”. And, so it is!

3. Good vs Perfection:

Your old English comp professor is not looking over your shoulder. This paper does not have to be perfect. That is not to say it does not have to be on point or to say that it does not have to be correct. It does or at least it should be. But, perfection is not the goal and is, in fact, seldom possible. Too much detail and you run the risk of losing your reader on several levels. Too long and most readers simply don’t have the time or interest to wade through the material regardless of how important it is.

4. Blog Length vs Article Length:

Most publishers want a minimum of six hundred (600) words per article – some will let you slide with four hundred (400) words. Blogs can be much smaller. Blogs can and maybe should support appropriate pictures and embedded links.

Just don’t over do it. Too gaudy or too slow to load and you have wasted your time, ticked off a potential reader, and probably upset a host who can ban you from their publications. Articles, on the other hand, typically cannot carry these extra touches according to the requirements of most publishers.

5. Format:

Prepare your article in American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) format. There are many tools from which to choose to get the job done. A search for ‘free ASCII editor’ or for ‘free plain text editors’ will provide one with a multitude of free options. Word Press is a popular choice. If all else fails simply use notepad to turn out your masterpiece.

6. Spelling and Grammar:

Once you have your article or Blog run it through a good spell checker and a good grammar checker. Microsoft Word works well for these purposes. Just don’t use the MS Word copy for publication of your article. Rather use it’s suggestions to make any necessary corrections to your plain text copy. The MS Word copy will work for Blogs although the Computerman prefers other editors.

Just like the days when you were pushed by Profs, you will find Article and Blog writing skills become easier with time and practice.

7. Publish and Announce:

Once your Blog is ready you may want to use some automatic tools to publish and announce it. First do a search for Blog hosts and select those which best suit your needs. Join one or more and publish your Blog there. Then search for Blog announcers and rss announcers and use them to get your Blog noticed.

Now that you have that out of the way find an article wizard that will post your Articles to free publishers. You can post them one at a time by hand if you are really bored and have absolutely nothing else in life to do. Using an automatic poster you can publish to hundreds of hosts in an hour or so. The only way to go.

8. Patience:

Now, have some patience. Here is where you lose control. Many of the men and women who host articles are timely and your articles will be reviewed within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours. But, many others will be days and weeks down the road therefore never date an article – a sure way to get rejected.

9. Rejection – “sorry your article has been declined”:

Be prepared for most hosts to reject your articles. Do not take it personally. It usually has little to do with you or your article.

Some databases routinely reject articles for spelling errors when there are none or where there is more than way to spell a word. And, just as in any other endeavor some hosts are simply too lazy and get so far behind, the easiest and fastest thing to do (and perhaps the only alternative) is to reject everything. You will learn who these are over time.

Then there are those who run your articles through the sausage grinder and if they find certain words, irrespective of how they are used, your article gets no farther. These are the people who can’t publish the Holy Bible because it contains words that offend them or their readers. Don’t worry about these folks who are so heavenly minded they are of no earthly use.

Remember, just as in everything else in life, for every rule there is an exception

10. Keep the faith, and keep cranking out articles:

Since most authors, especially newbies, prepare only one copy of an article against the advice of most seasoned authors it is important that the newbie keep his chin up – keep the faith. That will be easier as more and more of your articles are accepted and published driving visitors to your website while creating those all important back links.

It is not necessary that every host to accept everything submitted to them. After one or two hosts publish your article on any given subject, the search engines tend to penalize you anyway by ignoring additional postings. This is close to spamming and while it could help someone find you, it probably won’t. It is not necessarily, the more the merrier. The additional listings will not increase your page rankings or links reported by the search engines. It is more important to get published by hosts with the highest Google page rank possible.

Now, one BONUS TIP for you: Along with “the rejection slip” will usually come a suggestion on how to “fix” your article and a request that you resubmit it. Don’t waste your time. While trying comply with one database manager’s request you could have written a new article from which you get much more punch. Enough publishers will pick your article up so move on and save yourself some time and heartburn.

Everybody has a thought or idea at least once a day usually at the most inopportune time. How many good ideas have you lost because of waiting? Don’t procrastinate! Go! Capture that thought before it is gone forever.

Plagiarism is a very serious offence that can even lead to one being discontinued from many academic institutions. Plagiarism basically means the duplication of another person’s work without acknowledging it.

Plagiarism can either be intentional whereby you consciously plan to go out and copy someone’s work or accidental whereby you utilize somebody’s work without realizing it, but whatever the case might be, plagiarism can end your academic career.

The following are a few ways to pass up plagiarism:

Stating your sources might sound very basic. You can blame it either on unawareness or slothfulness but you will be surprised at the number of students who simply do not refer to their sources.

Time after time, students are just so happy to finally finish doing a paper that they forget to mention the sources at the closing stages. Other times, a student might not know that he has to mention the source when he uses somebody else’s work.

You need to carefully comb through your paper after you write it down as it is very easy for references from other works to find their way into the paper.

Since there is no differentiating the planned from accidental plagiarism you need to delete any words as soon as you notice them. Even the sentences from the paper that you believe were copied from someplace else either by accident or intentionally.

You should use clear-cut words in the paper if you are rephrasing somebody else’s words. When rephrasing and remember to always close it in with quotes as you refer to your sources either at the end or in sequence. You should not feel enticed to change even a single letter from the original work.

It is easy to avoid plagiarism when you are not only familiar with the rules to follow but also revise your paper thoroughly as the consequence for not doing so could be terrible. Always scrutinize your paper carefully before handing it in.

Aside from legal actions against plagiarism, this writer additionally frequently publishes information regarding Movies Capital scam and Cheat Your Way Thin review.

You’ve always wanted to write a novel, right? The story line may already be running through your brain, saved in the dark recesses of some gray matter somewhere. Maybe you’ve harbored this desire for years. You know you can do it, right? When you read other authors who have “made it” you shake your head and think what is so special about them?

How come some authors are successful and you are not? Why have you become an expert armchair novel quarterback, ripping their story line to pieces, reducing their characters to dumb minions, and they get the royalty check? Unfortunately with your way of thinking all you will find is frustration, fear, and a very defeated attitude.

What is the most important thing that sets you apart from “published, successful” authors? It’s not talent, not yet anyway. It certainly isn’t luck, that is for sure. It’s not connections in the business, although at some future date that could be very important. There is only one main,( let me repeat…main, as in very important, maybe even huge) difference between you and them. The difference is- They Started Writing. That is it! They started, and you haven’t.

When you get off the couch and sit before your computer and start writing you’ve completed the hardest part. Why? Because when you do that, when you make that commitment, there is no turning back(unless you quit which is very self-defeating)

When you look in the mirror and tell yourself you are going to start writing you have just began a journey that will take an extreme amount of discipline and commitment to complete. But the point is…you’ve started…the ball is rolling, and that is the most important decision you can make as a writer.

Every writer started…every dreamer just dreams about it.

Don’t be afraid to start, but don’t quit your day job either. It may be best to keep this decision to yourself for a few months if possible, but maybe you can’t. If there is a spouse or partner involved in your life, you need to let them know of your decision because a lot of your free time is going to disappear out the window. That’s part of it. Writing takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and commitment. If you go for it, don’t neglect those around you.
