There are a lot of people out there who see writing articles as a pain and a chore. I happen to disagree. I think it is a lot of fun and very rewarding in a number of different ways.
It isn’t easy to come up with a whole range of potential writing subjects and then turn those around into fully-formed articles. But there are ways to turn this chore into a routine task that is easy to get out of the way.
There will always be a certain amount of hard work required of writing, but the process can be simplified if you keep a few simple steps in mind as you go through the process of organizing your thoughts.
Try mapping out the purpose of your subject before you write your first word. Like planning a trip ahead of time, it helps to know where you are going before you hit the road. The way I do it is I render my subject down to a basic list.
It doesn’t hurt to employ a little storytelling technique either. Don’t be afraid to insert a little bit of yourself into your articles. Share your own experiences with your readers when it is appropriate. Readers are far more engaged by the story or somebody else’s own experience than by a simple, factual outline.
I like to employ little challenges in my writing, as well. A little time challenge, for example, can be helpful. I’ll give myself two hours to finish a particular article and then see if I can beat my own best time. It’s an arbitrary challenge that doesn’t mean anything, but it makes it fun.
Another trick I like to use is the setting of minor rewards for a job well-done. For example, one of the tricks I like to try is setting a challenge of finishing five articles in one sitting. Then I’ll tell myself that if I do it, I can go out for a desert afterward. It’s an effective trick.
The last suggestion I have for you may sound a little funny, but it works, I assure you. I installed a little software on my computer that tracks my typing speed and I’ve worked to improve that over time. It just takes a little bit of the pain out of the process.
