When it comes to maintaining a well balanced and somewhat healthy diet, we are not always doing the best job we can. Sure its OK to have slipups once in a while, but they call them treats for a reason. They shouldn’t be had every day!
Here are some easy rules to follow that I’ve picked up along the way and maybe you will find helpful as well.
Eat more spicy food. The capsaicin in many spiced foods does wonders for your health. It doesn’t hurt that it reportedly helps prevent mosquitoes from biting you. I can safely say that my friends get bitten more than I do. Throw a jalapeno or some Tabasco on your egg and cheese once in a while.
Go easy on the bread rolls. When you go out for dinner, try to limit yourself with the bread service. If I’m not careful, I could easily eat five of those in a meal without even noticing. Find a cutoff and try to adhere to it.
Eat more fish. Try getting some more salmon or tuna into your diet. Even if its canned tuna fish, it still is an incredibly healthier substitute to less healthy proteins. The omega fatty acids in these types of fish are incredibly healthy for your skin and help to break down fat.
Try to stay away from eating late night pizza. A good rule of thumb: Any pizza eaten in the AM hours should not be eaten at all.
Drink skim milk instead of whole milk. You can start tapering off by going to 2% first, and then 1% then skim milk. I’m no mathematician, but skim milk is way better for you.
Always eat breakfast. It truly is the most important meal of the day and sets your metabolism in motion for the rest of the day. Even if you just have a slice of bacon (try not to make a habit of it), it is better than no breakfast at all.
